Paint Stick Photo Pallet Signs

A very simple and fun DIY project to do with kids and teens! This project works for boys and girls. Display photos of friends and family in bedrooms or family spaces with this fun photo display sign.

Here is what you will need:

Here's what you'll need to gather:

  • Wood Paint Sticks
  • Wood Glue or Hot Glue Gun
  • Craft Paint
  • Ribbon or Chord *optional for hanging
  • Stickers and/or Washing Tape *optional for decoration
  • Small Clips (Any kind will work!)

Step One: Make Your Pallet

Using wood glue adhere paint sticks across the back of the sign to hold it together. I suggest using wood glue that dries off-white or clear but you could also use a hot glue gun.

Here is one configuration: 11 paint sticks wide, 2 glued to back side as shown below.

You can do any configuration you would like. The photos below show another example:

Step Two: Paint and decorate your sign.

This is a fun opportunity to take a trip to your local craft store with your kids. They'll love picking out a washi tape, stickers and clips to decorate their photo pallet sign! Don't forget a tube of craft paint and a sponge brush or paint brush. If you already have supplies at home all the better!

Step Three: Attach hanging chord and ribbon.

Tie your chord around the pallet. The grooves from the paint stick hold it in place. If you didn't assemble your pallet as shown here you could use a dot of glue to hold the chord in place at each edge.

Then glue or staple ribbon, chord or hanging hardware to the back of the pallet for easy hanging. Ribbon can add some extra fun and color to the design of your photo pallet sign!

Show off your work!

I asked my daughter to take some pictures of her finished sign and this is what I got! :0)

Easily change out photos for holidays, birthdays and special occasions!

Have fun!
